Yesterday I submitted my first 400 word commissioned article, being compulsively punctual this was a day earlier than the deadline the editor gave me.

Fulfilling this commission which I’d received before Lockdown was a challenge as the premise was an account of visiting a new nature reserve. Thankfully, the local naturalists I tracked down on the phone were incredibly generous with both their time and their photographs. This picture of saltmarsh plants was taken by birdwatcher and photographer Martin Batt.

Of course there’s no guarantee it will published but it’s an exciting milestone.
